MINIPIGS MOVED TO THE ISLAND

1.9.2024

Now the rest of the animals moved to the island too! Small animals that don't go outside in winter, i.e. minipigs, chickens and rabbits, had their own spaces in the barn. The barn is in pretty good shape, so all we had to do was clean it up and build pens for the animals. At some point, there is a need to repaint the walls with lime paint, so the overall look will be freshened up and tidied up.

The animals' trip to the island on the horse trailer went really well and after arriving there, the pigs marched resolutely to their new pens. In the future, the plan is to open the closed door of the barn and build an outdoor playground for the pigs next to it.

Our garden produces a lot of fruit and now you no longer have to think about where to put all the fruit when there are pigs in the barn. The fruit tree branches that are cut in the fall are, in turn, eaten by the rabbits.

We added a couple of old armchairs to the barn, so there are places to have coffee there too. I'm already looking forward to Christmas, so I can give the barn a Christmas barn feel with decorative lights and pinecones

:D

NIGHT OF THE ANCIENT FIRE

30.8.2024

It would be August soon and autumn at the beginning! On the weekend, the Venetians, the end of the Villa Season and the Night of the Ancient Flames are celebrated, depending on the location. Here in the archipelago, outdoor fires and lights are put out and people gather at the cabins to boat and celebrate. Today we have admired nature's own light show with the stormy weather. The old log house by the sea has its own kind of exciting feeling when there is a thunderstorm, and with the children you can watch the flashes of lightning through the window.

Baltic sea day

28.8.2024

Pro Bono/charity cooperation: John Nurminen Foundation

The Baltic Sea Day started by the John Nurminen Foundation will be celebrated tomorrow, Thursday 29 August. and I want to encourage everyone to participate in one way or another! 💙

The John Nurminen Foundation does important work for the unique Baltic Sea. Marine environmental projects combat eutrophication and other environmental risks to the sea 🙌 Conservation work has achieved a lot of good, but there is still a lot to be done in order to create a good ecological state in the Baltic Sea, where there are not too many nutrients and algae in the sea, there is enough oxygen at the bottom, and the marine organism is diverse and vibrant 🐟 🐚

The goal of the Baltic Sea Day is to inspire people to enjoy our unique home sea and to make concrete actions and promises for its benefit 🌊 In addition to the celebration, the purpose of the Baltic Sea Day is to increase knowledge about the diverse nature, culture and history of the sea ⚓️

On Baltic Sea Day, August 29, 2024, we will take a dip in the water around the Baltic Sea at 18:00 🤩 You can also take a dip in another body of water if you can't get to the Baltic Sea or participate in the adventure in some other way. Check out the Baltic Sea Day program and various Baltic Sea-friendly actions and choices: itameripaiva.fi 🌊
